Hartford is located in Hartford County on the Connecticut River, in the north of the centre of the state of Connecticut. It is the capital city of the state of Connecticut, USA.
The city shares its borders with the town of West Hartford, Newington, Wethersfield, East Hartford, Bloomfield, South Windsor and Windsor. Hartford has a humid continental climate. The winters are cold with an annual average low of –8°C. Summers are is hot and humid with an annual average high temperature of 23°C.
Hartford has an approximate population of 124,400. Often referred to as the ‘insurance capital of the world’, insurance is one of the main industries of the region. The city was founded by the Dutch traders in the early 1600’s and was established by Reverend Thomas Hooker in 1636.
