Connecticut has an area of 14,356 sq km and a population of more than 3 million people. The capital city is Hartford. Connecticut is situated in the north-eastern region of the USA, in an expanse known as New England. It is bordered in the north by Massachusetts, in the south by Long Island Sound, in the west by New York and in the east by Rhode Island. The Connecticut River cuts right through the centre of the state and flows into the Atlantic Ocean through the Long Island Sound.
