New Haven, with a population of around 124,000 inhabitants, is in Connecticut, USA. It was incorporated as a city in 1784 and occupies an area of over 52 sq km. It is situated on the New Haven Harbour along the coast of the Long Island Sound.
This city has an abundance of natural wonders like hills, rivers, beaches, woods, deep harbours and reddish basalt. Some of its important geographical features include its three rivers West, Mill and Quinnipiac, West Haven Harbour, East Rock and West Rock.

The economy of New Haven is dependent on educational institutions (especially Yale University), healthcare facilities, service sector, retail trade and financial services. Before the arrival of Europeans, this area was inhabited by people of the Quinnipiac tribe.
