The Yale University Art Gallery is located on the Yale University campus in New Haven. The art gallery holds a large collection of art, displayed throughout several building on the campus, with a largely renowned collection of early Italian paintings, African sculptures, and modern art. Founded in 1832, the gallery is one of the oldest museums in the world, containing more than 185,000 artifacts. The Yale University Art Gallery also organizes a number of exhibits and educational programs offering art enrichment for the community.
