New London is a city in the state of Connecticut, USA. Located on the mouth of River Thames along the Long Island Sound, the city has become a very important sea port in America.
New London was initially home to Native American tribes, and the British were the first Europeans to settle in this region in mid-seventeenth century. The area was founded in 1646, and currently, it houses a population of around 26,000 residents and is spread over an area of around 28 sq km.
This city was once an important harbour and also an important whaling port. New London has a diverse topography with a picturesque landscape. Rivers, harbours and lush vegetation are all a part of New London.
It enjoys warm summers and cool winters and the climate on average remains pleasant. The maximum average annual temperature is around 37°C, while the minimum average annual temperature is approximately 24°C.
