The Plainfield town is located in southern Windham County, Connecticut. The total area occupied by the town is nearly 43 square miles and its elevation is about 400 feet. The western side of the town is bordered by the Quinebaug River and the Moosup River which enters the northern part of the town. The Connecticut Turnpike bisects Plainfield that provides adequate road transportation facilities.
