The Plainfield town is located in southern Windham County, Connecticut. The total area occupied by the town is nearly 43 square miles and its elevation is about 400 feet. The western side of the town is bordered by the Quinebaug River and the Moosup River which enters the northern part of the town. The town consists of four villages namely Wauregan, Plainfield, Central Village and Moosup. As per the 2007 census, the population of Plainfield is 15450. The tribes of the town include White, Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander and Latino or Hispanic. The previous settlers of the land were Europeans and Native Americans. The average temperature of Plainfield varies between 25 degree Fahrenheit and 70 degree Fahrenheit. The average annual snowfall is 10 inches. The Connecticut Turnpike bisects Plainfield that provides adequate road transportation facilities. There are no air, rail or water services available in the city and no public transport system offered in Plains filed.
