Torrington can be described as the biggest city located in county of Litchfield, Connecticut, US.
Torrington enjoys the pride of being ‘core city’ of the biggest ‘micropolitan area’ all over US.
Torrington had been a ‘mill town’ previously. At present, it’s competing with Winsted, its neighbor; for recreation of pleasant ‘Main Street’ environment.
As per US Census Bureau, total area of Torrington is 104.6 sq. Km; out of which 1.41%25 consists of water. The western and eastern sides of Torrington; at its boundaries, seem to be at ‘tops’ of the peaks; whereas central sections and downtown are located in Naugatuck Valley. Such an arrangement makes way for certain interesting views; that too, from higher locations. City lights act as a backdrop here. Owing to lack on the part of conducive bypass routes and highways in West/East direction, one needs to drive down in to valley and ‘back up’ the other side. Only then, city can be crossed.
Population as per 2000 census was reported to be 36248.
