West Haven is a city which is situated in New Haven County, in Connecticut, United States.
Previously, West Haven was known by the name West Farms in 1648. It was also a part of the original New Haven colony. However, in 1719, it became the separate parish of West Haven and it was still a part of New Haven until 1822.
This city along with North Milford joined to become Orange, which was incorporated in 1822 as a town. But, in 1921 West Haven split from Orange and became a separate town. Later, this city was incorporated in 1961 and known as “Connecticut’s Youngest City”. Ironically it is one of the state’s oldest settlements.
As per the 2006 Census Bureau, the population of West Haven was 52,721. The population density was 4,832.0 people per square mile.
West Haven is a place with moderate climate and the average temperature is 32.9 in the month of January and 73.6 in July. The average precipitation is 3.15 in January and in July it is 6.18.
