Incorporation of Willimantic took place in the year 1893; in the form of section of Windham town. This place has also been known as birthplace of Connecticut’s Christopher Dodd, i.e. US Senator.
Willimantic has been best known with respect to its legend, i.e. ‘The Battle of Frog Pond’. History of this place has also been found in architecture pertaining to Victorian era. As per ‘Willimantic Victorian Neighborhood Association’, an area (within Willimantic) of 40 blocks; which is generally called ‘The Hill Section’, can boasts of around 800 ‘vintage buildings/homes’. Also, all these have been listed in National Register of Historic Places by US Department of the Interior.
