Dover, located on the St Jones River in the Delaware River coastal plain, is the capital city of the US state of Delaware. Dover is also the county seat of Kent County.

The total area of Dover is 58.8 km sq of which 0.8 km sq is water. The city has a moderate climate with the summers having an annual average temperature of 7°C and winters having an average annual temperature of –1°C.

Being the second largest city in the state, the city of Dover has an approximate population of 34,300 inhabitants.

Dover was founded by William Kent in 1683. Presently, the State government is the largest employer in Dover and Delaware. Having a low cost of living, Dover is one of the fastest developing regions in the state of Delaware.
