Ocean View was discovered in the year 1688 in the form of 500-acre ‘tract’ of land granted to ‘Matthew Scarborough’ by ‘Lord Baltimore’. It has been believed that a youngster went on to climb a tree in this region and could see Atlantic Ocean. This gave the town the nomenclature ‘Ocean View’. The incorporation took place in the year 1899.
