The Lincoln Memorial is a famous landmark in Washington built to the memory of Abraham Lincoln who was the sixteenth president of the US.

It is situated in the National Mall area of Washington, D.C.

Henry Bacon is credited as its architect. The building’s architecture is inspired by the Greek Doric Temple.

It consists of a sculpture of seated Abraham Lincoln and there are excerpts from his 2 well-known speeches on the walls. The park is free to visit at any time of the day.

Many national leaders, including Martin Luther King, have delivered famous speeches from this site.

The building is under the management of the National Park Services and has been ranked as 7th on the list of America’s favourite architecture.
