The Tampa Sailing Squadron has existed as a chartered nonprofit organization for more than 25 years and its roots dates back to 1920s. Harold Balcom, the first Commodore of this club recalls this as centering on the Tampa Yacht and Country Club and it was known as the “Sand Pit Yacht Club”. At present, there are events which are held here at Tampa Sailing Squadron.
