Arcadia can be referred to as a city located in ‘DeSoto County, Florida, US’. It’s DeSoto County’s county seat as well. Moreover, it’s the sole incorporated community of DeSoto. Massive destruction on the part of Arcadia had taken place; thanks to Hurricane Charley. This had happened on 13th of August, 2004.
As per US Census Bureau, Arcadia’s total area consists of 10.5 sq. Km; out of which 0.25% consists of water.
The town was named ‘Arcadia’ by Reverend James Hendry to honor Arcadia Albritton, who was the daughter of initiator and went on to bake him his birthday cake. That cake was liked by him to such an extent that he moved a step further by naming city on her name.
Local economy of Arcadia heavily relies upon nothing but agriculture. Primary elements are inclusive of watermelons, cattle, and citrus.
As per census conducted in the year 2005, population of Arcadia was 7151.
Summer would be the best season to visit this place.
