‘Floridans’ are considered to be warm, friendly and hospitable. The mix of people from varied cultural backgrounds adds to the charm of the region. From the Florida ‘Crackers’ to the Hispanic communities, Puerto Ricans and British and Irish ancestry, the state sees a constant blend of culture.

Florida is home to the Kennedy Space Centre (the famous NASA launch site for space shuttles at Cape Canaveral). A visit to the space complex can treat guests to space films in the IMAX theatre or even take a tour in a full-size space shuttle replica. Cocoa Beach is the best place to catch a shuttle lift-off.

The Orlando region boasts of huge international theme parks like the Walt Disney World Resort and the adrenaline-pumping Busch Gardens at Tampa Bay with its 360-degree rides. The Florida Keys, Miami Beach and the Daytona Beach attract travellers from all around the world while the Everglades National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) has a natural charm of its own.

Popular events and entertainment in Florida include the Fiesta de Santa Maria in September (celebrating Latin heritage on Amelia Island), the Miami International Film Festival (held in March), the Florida State Fair (taking place in February at Tampa), and the Florida Citrus Festival in January.
