Tourist Guide Boca Grande
Boca Grande can be referred to as a tiny residential community standing on ‘Gasparilla Island’, on the southwestern region of Florida. ‘Gasparilla Island’ is a portion of both, Lee and Charlotte Counties, whereas rural area of ‘Boca Grande’ that’s a home to several year-round and seasonal residents is completely in the island’s Lee County section.
The name: ‘Spanish’ for ‘Large Mouth’ is derived from mouth of waterway, known as ‘Boca Grande pass’, at island’s southern tip. This pas had been made use of as one of the busiest shipping points for several years as water contained in pass is naturally deep.
Phosphates in the processed form from ‘Bone Valley’ region were loaded on to wetting cargo vessels through ‘Seaboard Air Line Railway’ at dock situated on island’s southern tip.
Shipping business towards island went on to decline when ‘Port of Tampa’ later got dredged and operations regarding shipping of phosphate moved towards north, i.e. towards places along ‘Tampa Bay’.
The climate is humid.
