Chipley city is situated in Washington County in Florida. This city is the county seat of Washington County. It was originally known by the name Orange. However, the community was renamed as Chipley in 1882 after a railroad tycoon and Florida State senator William Dudley Chipley.
The population as per the 2000 estimate census was 3,592 people. As per the US Census estimates, by 2005, it had reached to 3,682 people. In 2009, the population of this city is 3,727 people. This means, since 2000, it has had a population growth of 4.29 percent.
