Clermont City was founded in 1884 and was incorporated in 1916. It forms a part of the South Lake County. It stands about 22 miles west of the city of Orlando. The Florida Highway 50 connects both the cities of Clermont and Orlando.
The current population of Clermont is 23,476. It is the largest city in the county. The racial mix consists of 83.50%25 Whites, 12.08%25 African American and a few percentages of Asian and other races. The city is residential in nature. It experiences a fast economic growth.
