Clewiston can be described as a city located in county of Hendry, Florida, US.
The region besides ‘Lake Okeechobee’ had once been used in the form of fishing camp. Seminole Indians were the ones to use it that way. The year 1920 marked the beginning of the 1st settlement. It was when Tampa’s Alonzo Clewis and Philadelphia’s John O’Brien went on to purchase a huge piece of land for establishing the town.
Clewiston got incorporated on the official basis in the year 1925. It got noted for sport fishing; largemouth bass, in particular.
As per US Census Bureau, total area of Clewiston is 12.2 sq. Km; out of which 0.43%25 consists of water. This city, on an average, receives rainfall of around 47 inches every year. Snowfall does not occur. In the month of July, temperature is maximum, i.e. 91 degree F; whereas in the month of January, temperature comes out to be 54 degree F.
According to census conducted in the year 2000, population of Clewiston was 2174.
