The Florida Shakespeare Theatre or now known as GableStage was founded in 1979, and has become a prominent cultural institution of South Florida. It has received critical acclaim for its artistic excellence, and produces main stage programs including contemporary plays and educational theatre programs that also include Shakespeare and the Classics.
