Tiger Bay State Forest in the central section of Volusia County in South Florida, about seven miles west of Daytona Beach.  A seven-mile detour is all it takes for a vast change of scenery, from the endlessly open expanse of Daytona Beach to the intricacies of the canopied Tiger Bay State Forest.

The earthy smell of pine. The gentle trickling of running water. The thrill of uneven earth challenging your feet.  Tiger Bay State Forest is an environmental haven for nature enthusiasts.  T he Forest is centered on the Tiger Bay, but includes a number of lakes and man-made bodies of water perfect for fishing excursions.

The state forest also lends itself perfectly to hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, boating, fishing, hunting, nature photography and almost any other recreational activities.  Challenge yourself to an uphill trek on rugged terrain or an exhilarating horseback ride through the woods. The forest has an area designated for camping, so those who are friendly with Mother Nature are free to pitch a tent and make themselves at home.

Campers should be warned, however, to hide their picnic baskets and honey jars, as the forest is home to a variety of wild animals, including the Florida black bear. Despite the roaming wildlife, the park is monitored by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and is thus a safe venue for a fun and educational family experience.
