In the year 1962, Mackle Brothers purchased 17203 acres. Thereafter, they filed for ‘planned unit development’; that too, with 35143 lots. The next step was to name the region ‘Deltona’.

As per US census Bureau, total area of Deltona is 99.2 sq. Km; out of which 6.6%25 consists of water. This city receives rainfall of around 55 inches every year. Snowfall does not take place. July proves to be the hottest month; with temperature of around 92 degree F; whereas January the coolest; with temperature of around 48 degree F.
