Situated in Okaloosa County in Florida, USA, the city of Destin is located on the Emerald Coast in the Florida Panhandle. It covers an area of 21.2 sq km and has a population of around 11,000.
Destin has a temperate climate. Winters are mild with an average temperature of 12°C. Summers are generally hot, but the temperature is regulated by the southerly breeze from the Gulf of Mexico. The climate in spring and fall is quite pleasant.
Nicknamed as the ‘World’s luckiest fishing village’, Destin has transformed itself from a small fishing village to a popular tourist destination. It is named after Captain Leonard Destin who came to the area in 1845 to lead its fishing industry.
Known for its white sandy beaches, emerald green waters and virgin environment, Destin is fast becoming a preferred tourist destination.
