Florida City is a famous city that is situated in the Miami-Dade County of Florida in United States of America. Florida city rests in the southern part of Florida and is surrounded by Flamingo in the east and the famous town Homestead towards the west. The population here was measured to be 7,843 in the year 2000 which has been found to increase to 8,363 according to the 2004 census measure. Originally the city was named Detroit which was then changed to Florida City in the year 1914. It is supposed to be a historic area and tourist center and is thus incorporated with hotels and many tourist facilities. Some of the famous unorganized communities of interests here include Redland, Princeton and Leisure City. 3.2 square miles is the total area occupied by the city, all of which is land. The city is also a part of the Public Schools in Miami-Dade County. The most commonly followed religion is Christianity with 69%25 preaching the principles of Catholic Church, 6%25 to United Methodist Church and 26%25 to other religions. It has a tropical type of climate with a mean temperature of 20 to 25 degrees throughout the year with very hot summers.
