Fort Pierce city is located in the Saint Lucie County of Florida. It is also well known by the name Sunrise City. The city is situated 2.0 miles to the east of Fort Pierce South, 4.0 miles to the north of White City and 3.8 miles to the south of Saint Lucie. As per the 2000 census, the population was found to be around 37,516, which incremented to 37,959 in the year 2004. Fort Pierce is considered to be a part of the Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The aggregate area of the city was recorded to be 20.8 square miles of which 14.7 square miles is land and 6.0 square miles is under water. Thus 35% of the total area is beneath water and hence is a beneficial place for agricultural activities. Fishing is thus the major occupation of the residents due to the presence of many rivers surrounding the city. The town experiences a pleasant climate in most part of the year with very less probability of snowfall.
