The Heathcote Botanical Gardens are 3.5 acres subtropical botanical gardens, established in 1985 by a group of citizens in order to save a retired plant nursery from encroaching urbanization. Now the garden is a public garden facility housing numerous exotic plant species, mature native trees and shrubs, a Japanese Garden and other outbuildings. The plants here include bamboo, a banyan tree and bromeliads among others.
