The Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park is home to a variety of bird species during the spring. One can get to see a variety of birds especially warblers at this park. One can visit the park when it is cool rather in summer. In 1919, William J Matheson, a wealthy Miami chemist had bought this beautiful tiny island and built a caretaker’s home with a windmill for electricity. This hideaway is the visitor center at present.
