The famous Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys is built over a channel between the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Strait. It connects Knight's Key in the Middle Keys to Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys. The bridge previously had an opening swing span enabling the passage of boat traffic, which was late removed. The newly constructed bridge is a box-girder structure of precast, pre-stressed concrete sections.
