While it's true that Central Florida's main attraction is Mickey Mouse and his pals over at Disney World, Orlando and neighboring cities such as Kissimmee have much to offer, including a chance to get up close and personal with some real live alligators.
Kissimmee Swamp Tours and Eco-Adventures allow tourists experience the true heart and soul of Central Florida with an unforgettable airboat ride through some of the area's most fascinating lakes and rivers.
Kissimmee Swamp Tours operates on Middleton's Fish Camp on Lake Kissimmee and covers over 36,000 acres that includes state wildlife parks, recreational areas and protected wetlands. Tourists are most likely to see endangered species including whooping crane and snail kite, as well as bald eagles, alligators, wild deer and pigs.
Tour rates run at about $47 for adults for one hour ($30 for children) and $59 for adults for the 90-minute swamp tour ($40 for children). Florida residents can receive a discount with a valid driver's license. Kissimmee Swamp Tours is located about 45 minutes south of Disney World in Kenansville.
