Tourist Guide Longboat
Longboat Key is a small town spread across two Counties namely, Manatee County and Sarasota County in the state of Florida. The northern part of the town is in Manatee County and the southern part in Sarasota County. It is a barrier island and is surrounded on the west by the Gulf of Mexico and on the east by Sarasota Bay. In 1955, Longboat Key was incorporated and made a part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area. The total area of the city is 17 square miles of which 12.1 square miles are water bodies. Average temperature of Longboat during July varies between 90F to 71F and that during January is 71F-48F. The town receives maximum average rainfall of 9.5 inches in the month of August. Nearly 8000 permanent residents inhabit the island, in the west coast of Florida, and the population peaks up to 20,000 during the tourist season. This town is a great attraction for retired people. It has many resorts and home stay facilities for the tourists.
