Longboat Key town is situated in Manatee and Sarasota counties along the central west coast of Florida. Incorporated in 1955, it is part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Its population was 7,603 people as per the 2000 census, and in 2004, it reached to 7,622 people. As of 2009, the population shows 7,339 people. And since 2000, it has had a population growth of -2.49 percent.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 17.1 square miles, of which, 4.9 square miles is land and 12.1 square miles is water. Its elevation feet are 10 feet. Most of the Gulf side of this town has beaches.
