Marathon is situated on Boot Key, Fat Deer Key, Crawl Key, Knight’s Key, Grassy Key, Long Point Key and Key Vaca islands. Marathon is comparatively a new city incorporated in 1999. The city shares its boundaries with Tom’s Harbor Bridge to the west and Seven Mile Bridge to the east.Marathon is situated at (24.726310, -81.040327). The city covers a total area of 25 sq Km. Of this, 2.6 sq Km corresponds to water and 22.4 sq Km corresponds to land. The city has a population of 10626 according to 2005 census. The elevation is approximately 3 feet. English is regarded as the first language in the city. This accounts to about 78%25 of the population. 21%25 of the people have Spanish as their mother tongue. 91%25 of the residents are Whites. Other races include African American, Asian, Native American and other races.
