Little Havana is a district in the west central part of the city of Miami that has developed into a center of Cuban and Latin American culture and hosts many events!

We had such a nice stay, and month's last friday an event called "Viernes Culturales" ("Cultural Friday") takes place on Southwest 8th Street between 14th Avenue and 17th Avenue in Little Havana.  We couldn't miss it to savor the real atmoshphere created by the communities living here! It is a cultural event and block party featuring the music, dancing, poetry, arts, and crafts of Cuba and other Caribbean and Latin American countries!  We sure did Party On! One week each March, Miami transforms itself into a traditional Latin street festival!  Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street) becomes the scene of Carnaval as over a million spectators gather to celebrate in the city’s largest annual party.

What a crowd!  There was so much colour and lots of big fun! What goes on at Calle Ocho? What doesn’t! The big party was on Sunday March 14th, is one of Miami’s “don’t miss” events.  If you’ve never been to El Festival de la Ocho, you owe it to yourself to attend! The festival closes off 24 blocks of SW 8th Street to host dancing, food, drink and 30 stages of live entertainment. This is one heck of a party!
