Mount Dora city is situated in Lake County in Florida. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.

This city was first settled by David M Simpson in 1874. There are many historic sites listed on the National Register of
Historic Places in this city.

Its population as of 2006 was 11,564 people. By 2009, its population reached to 12,091 people.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.9 square kilometers, of which 12.7 square kilometers is land and 2.2 square kilometers is water.  This city overlooks the Dora, Beauclair and Gertrude lakes and is located on a plateau which is 180 feet above sea level.
