Tourist Guide Orange Park
Orange Park is a small town in the suburbs of Jacksonville, in the northeastern region of Clay County in Florida. The 2004 census conducted by the United States Census Bureau estimated a population about 9,243 in the region. Total area of the town is 5.6 square miles. Greater Orange Park area comprises of some unincorporated communities like, Ridgewood, Fleming Island, Doctor's Inlet, Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace, and Orange Park South. July is the warmest month with temperatures ranging from 90F-74F. In January, the temperature range from 67F to 45F. The region gets maximum average rainfall in September.In 1877, Florida Winter Home and Improvement Company bought and developed 1000 acres of land in McIntosh plantation at Laurel Grove as a farming land and southern retreat. The farming community so developed was later incorporated as a town in 1879. The region got its name because of the fruit crops it had during its establishment. However, the Great Freeze spoiled the crops, in 1894-95. The crops did not flourish even after recovering from the severe cold.
