Ormond Beach is a major city in the County of Volusia in Florida, USA. Ormond Beach is situated on the northern side of the Daytona Beach. The famous Tomoka State Park is located in this city. Ormond Beach was a part of the Timucuan Indians during the early centuries. The city was named after an Anglo-Irish sea captain, James Ormond. The city was founded in 1875, but incorporated as Ormond in 1880. After the Civil War, Ormond gained popularity. The city was officially renamed as Ormond Beach in 1949.Ormond Beach is situated at 29.286405, -81.074882. Ormond Beach is situated on the Atlantic Ocean and Halifax River lagoon. The city covers a total area of 75.3 sq. Km. Of this, 11.42%25 is water. The city has a population of 37929 people according to 2004 census. 94.28%25 of the total population is White. The other races are African American, Pacific Islander, Asian and Native American. The city is now an active residential and commercial market.
