There are few recreational activities that you can’t do at the Addison Blockhouse Historic State Park in Ormond Beach, Florida in the United States.  Like many of the other state parks in Florida, Addison Blockhouse is a quiet destination that is remote enough from the commercial world that you get a genuine environmental experience, but close enough for convenience and safety.  While this park doesn’t have marked trails for hiking, those confident and careful visitors can feel free to tackle the trails on their own. One of the most interesting aspects of this park, however, are not the recreational activities, but the history that lies within. The graves of John and Thomas Addison are within the woods at Addison Blockhouse Historical State Park, as well as—you guessed it—the Addison Blockhouse itself. There doesn’t seem to be a better fusion of history and nature all in one in the Southern Florida area. The park is located in Volusia County.
