Palm Beach Gardens, a city in Palm Beach County of Florida, enjoys vast green spaces. According to the 2006 census by the United States Census Bureau, the population of the city accounted to 48,944. The total area of the city is 55.93 square miles of which 55.7 square miles is land and 0.6 square miles is water. The average temperature of the city during January is 65F – 70F and in August 80F – 82F. The city lies in the EST zone. Much before development the Palm Beach Garden was a swampland in the west and the rest were pine forests and cattle ranches. In 1959, John D. McArthur, a wealthy man, proposed the development of 4000 acres of the region into a residential area. There was a rapid growth in the region in 1960s and McArthur named the city Palm Beach Gardens. Today 30% of the land mass in Palm Beach Gardens has green spaces. There was a boom in the economy in the early 1980s and 1970s, which paved the way for the growth of the city.
