Fort Barrancas is situated at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. In 1763, the British built a fort in the present site. Later the Spanish also built another fort there in 1797. In 1829, to protect the navy yard at Pensacola, four more forts were added to it, namely, Barrancas, Pickens, Advanced Redoubt, and McRee. It took 30 years to complete the work. The Fort is open for the public and has no entry fee. Tour guides are available on weekends.
