Built in 1916, the Sample McDougald House is in process of restoration since it is considered as one of the Pompano Beach’s oldest houses. This historic building was built on Dixie Highway. Recently, it got moved to its present site to insure its preservation. The Sample family, John M Sample, was the first to settle in the Pompano area. He had purchased farming land from the Florida East Coast Railway prior to 1910.
