The Ponce de Leon Light Station was built in 1887 when the area was known as Mosquito Inlet. It is one of the best preserved light stations in the nation. It is believed that over 100,000 visitors visit this light house each year. Moreover, this light house was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1998. It is one of the attractions attracting the tourists and is located 12 miles south of Daytona Beach open year round. It is also close to other attractions like the Kennedy Space Center.
