The Charlotte County Airport occupies 1934 acres of land and is two miles to the south of the Peace River. It is the highest elevation in the county 25 feet above sea level. This is a public airport and owned by the Charlotte Airport Authority. The airport has been used for single engine planes to small jet aircraft. It is home to the Florida International Air Show, an annual event which features many military demonstration teams. In 2006, it has had 74,743 aircraft operations.
