Port Saint Lucie is situated in the St. Lucie County of Florida in the United States. Earlier this place was a largely uninhabited island on the south of White City, Florida, with a few farmlands, fishing camps and businesses in the proximity of US1. Later a bridge was built connecting to this island. In 1961, Port Saint Lucie constituted to become a city. In the beginning of the 21st century, it became the fastest growing city in the United States. According to the 2007 census, the population in the city of Port Saint Lucie accounted to be 151,391. Port Saint Lucie covers a total area of 76.7 square miles (198.6 km²). The time zone in Port Saint Lucie is EST. Average temperature of place is 65 F to 70F in January and 70F to 82F in the month of August. In 2004, Hurricanes destroyed the city but it was later rebuilt. Port Saint Lucie is now a favorite tourist spot in the United States. The city is also a sporting center. It has a 54-hole Golf Course and is a home for many Baseball and Football teams.
