Sanibel can be referred to as a city located in ‘Lee County, Florida’, US, upon Sanibel Island. It’s a portion of Cape Coral-Fort Myers Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town, in particular, stands on eastern side of island; whereas community of ‘Santiva’ lies on northwestern side. In the year 1974, this city was formed as direct outcome of main causeway that was built in the year 1963 for replacing the ferry, along with rampant construction, development, etc, that took place later.
The developers went on to sue over novel restrictions. However, citizens prevailed within their quest of protecting the island. Buildings were then limited up to 2 or 3 stories only. Sanibel is linked to mainland through Sanibel causeway. The area as per US Census Bureau is 85.9 sq. Km; out of which 41.3 sq. Km is water. As per census conducted in the year 2008, population was 6374. Per capita Income was $66912.
