John Ringling was one of the five original circus kings of the Ringling brothers. In 1911, along with his wife Mable, he purchased 20 acres of waterfront property in Sarasota in Florida. In 1912, the couple spent winters here and decided to build a house too. This house was a Florentine style building having a 21 gallery museum of art on his Sarasota property. The museum is visited by many for its art collection exhibits of John Ringling.
