Tourist Guide Siesta Key

Siesta Key is a barrier island located off the western coast of Florida, US. It is located between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It was originally named Sarasota Key by in the early 1513. Later it was renamed to Siesta Key in 1920.

The total area of the place is 3.5 sq miles out of which 2.3 sq miles is land and 1.2 sq miles is water. The total population according to the 2009 US census is 6,807 people and since 2000 the rate of the population growth is 0.22 percent.

The climate here is a sub-tropical paradise. It has around 52 inches of rain per year. The hottest month is July with the temperature around 91 degrees Fahrenheit and the coldest month is January with the temperature around 51 degrees Fahrenheit.

This place is known for its beaches.  It has many resorts and the place provides activities like biking, canoeing, kayaking, boating and camping. Sports rentals are also available on the beaches.
