The city of Sunrise is in the Broward County of Florida region. The population of the city is 90,227.
"Sunrise Golf Village" was the city’s original name which was later altered to Sunrise when the retirees who were being attracted to settle here did not like the name.
Sunrise is located in southeastern region of Florida and on the west of Fort Lauderdale. Some neighboring communities include Pompano Park, Lauderdale Lakes, Pine Island Ridge, Davie, North Lauderdale, Plantation, Lauderhill and Tamarac.
The city was developed by Norman Johnson and got incorporated in the year 1961 and the city remained small till the period of 1970s which was when real expansion began.
The climate of Sunrise is very hot during summers with temperatures soaring up till the 80s and is relatively mild during the winters with temperatures around 60s.
