The goals of the Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department are to provide worthwhile leisure programs for citizens of all ages. The city has many parks and gardens some of which are the Alfred B. Maclay State Gardens, which has a three hundred acre grounds park like setting which includes a large variety of flowers and trees. The Apalachicola National Forest is a wonderful place to spend a leisurely afternoon in the sun. There are numerous peaceful areas for guests to enjoy a relaxed picnic and various boat ramps allow easy access to fishing spots in the park. The River Bluff Picnic Site offers a variety of family-friendly activities. Canoeing is an excellent way to enjoy the park from a different perspective.
