Situated in Hillsborough County in Florida, USA, the city of Tampa is bordered by Old Tampa Bay and Hillsborough Bay. The city is spread over an area of 442 sq km.
Tampa has a subtropical climate. The temperatures in summer range from 18°C and 35°C. Known as the ‘Lightning capital of the world’, the area often witnesses thunderstorms in summer. In winter, the temperature rarely falls below freezing point. Tornadoes are also common in this area.
The area has grown into a bustling port town with a population of around 340,000. It is a hub of shipping and manufacturing industries. Incorporated in 1849, Tampa has been credited as one of the fastest growing cities in USA.
Tourism is the backbone of the economy. With a beautiful coastline and a pleasant weather, the city attracts a sea of tourists each year.
