Tampa’s Lettuce Lake Park, named after the lettuce-like vegetation growing in the lake, is a wonderful place for families and nature lovers.

There are plenty of areas for picnicking with grills provided as well as lots of open space for a game of football, soccer, or Frisbee. There is also a shaded playground available for the kids.

The highlight of the park is definitely the boardwalk that circles Lettuce Lake where you can view gators, turtles, and plenty of birds. You can also rent a canoe and kayak (or bring your own) and explore the area by boat. There is also a paved loop which is great for running or bike riding.

However, the downside is that there is an entrance fee of $2 so while it’s a great area to visit now and then; I probably wouldn’t make a habit of coming here to workout on a daily basis. Also be sure to bring mosquito repellant, as the mosquitoes here can be pretty annoying when they’re out in full force.
